UK PM David Cameron will later join other world leaders at the G8 summit for talks on the eurozone crisis, amid signs a deal is unlikely to be reached.

“Decisive action is needed by the eurozone. They cannot go on kicking the can down the road,” the PM said.

Mr Cameron also warned French President Francois Hollande that Britain will not accept a tax on financial transactions.

Speaking in Washington ahead of their first meeting, Mr Cameron said it was not a “sensible measure”. More on page 189566

Diamond Jubilee: Armed forces in parade and flypast

Thousands of members of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force are to take part in a parade and flypast to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

 

The event is designed to reflect the close relationship between the Queen and the armed forces.

More than 2,500 servicemen and women will march past the Queen in Windsor Castle before mustering in an arena. More on page 189564

US baby boomers urged to take hepatitis C blood test

US baby boomers have been advised by health officials for the first time to get tested for the liver-destroying virus hepatitis C.

 

Those born between 1945-1965 are most likely to be infected but it is thought only a quarter of this generation has been tested for the virus.

The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) believes its campaign could save more than 120,000 lives. More on page 189561

If Greece were a man, he would have aged decades in the past two weeks.

 

The grey hairs would be sprouting, the wrinkles showing. It has been an extraordinarily tumultuous time here.

This country has overcome so much in its long and rich history. But even Greeks are bewildered by what has happened in the last fortnight.

Roll back to 6 May: election day beneath a beautiful early summer sun. As predicted, an austerity-weary nation seized the chance to punish the much-reviled political establishment. More on page 189558

California’s SpaceX company is ready to make history by sending a capsule containing half a tonne of supplies to the space station.

It will be the first time the private sector has provided such a service.

The task is usually performed by the vehicles belonging to government space agencies, such as Nasa and Esa. More on page 189556
